Godo Geiko at Shufukai Dojo

On the weekend of August 21-22 Boston Shufukai dojo will be hosting a special godo geiko with visiting members of the Garden State Kendo Alliance.  On Saturday August 21 at 7 pm an advanced practice will be held (yudansha only).  On Sunday Shufukai’s normal practice time will be changed to 2 pm so everyone will have opportunity to practice.

AEUSKF Promotion Test Sunday July 25, 2010

On Sunday July 25, 2010 the All Eastern United States Kendo Federation held a kendo shinsa at the Boston Shufukai Dojo in Randolph, Massachusetts.  Over 40 candidates placed themselves up for promotion from kyu through yondan.  Following the shinsa was an excellent godo geiko. Congratulations to all who advanced in grade.

Boston Kendo Kyokai 30th Anniversary Tournament

BKK 30th Anniversary

BKK celebrated its 30th anniversary by hosting a kendo tournament on Sunday, May 2, 2010.  Over 150 competitors from across the U.S. and Canada participated in an exciting and highly competitve tournament.  Congratulations to all who demonstrated outstanding kendo spirit and thanks to everyone who helped make this a successful event!  Arigato!

A special congratulations to Mr. Nelson Sigelman of Martha’s Vinyard who was the recipient of the inaugural Jack Thayer Award for Outstanding Contribution to Kendo in Massachusetts. Mr. Sigelman, along with Jack Thayer, was the founder of the Boston Kendo Club, the first kendo dojo in Massachusetts.
